Gatwick airport confirms company for the job to build new baggage claim as part of £1 billion investment plans

Gatwick Airport has recently revealed they have a £1 billion investment plan in place to improve facilities at the airport. Vinci, a world leading construction group, has been announced as the company to build a new baggage facility costing in the region of £184 million. This will replace the current facilities at Pier 1.

There were a number of companies competing for the job, but Vinci came out on top with the multi million pound job; employees of Vinci will be happy in the knowledge that their jobs should be pretty secure for the time being!

The company will work closely with the airport to ensure everything continues to run as smoothly as possible whilst the work is carried out. The airport wants to ensure customers and staff are disrupted as little as possible, despite the work being highly complicated. Staff and customer safety is a top priority, and the airport needs to be able to function fully around the work- a major task for Vinci to take on.
